Dr Jared Barnes

After graduating with a focus in Botany, Jared Barnes interned at The Scott Arboretum of Swarthmore College in Swarthmore PA, then returned to school to earn a Masters and PhD in Horticultural Science. He has traveled around the US and into eleven countries to gain a national and global perspective of horticulture. He is a past Perennial Plant Foundation Scholarship Recipient and has been awarded the Young Professional of the Year and Academic Award from the Perennial Plant Association. He currently fulfills the role of Associate Professor at Stephen F. Austin State University in Texas and is helping gardeners everywhere cultivate the skills they need to grow through the Meristem website and newsletter, and his Plantastic Podcast.
