Exclusive tour of Biltmore landscape with Parker Andes, Director of Horticulture

Date: August 4th, 2019

This small group tour, hosted by Parker Andes, Biltmore’s Director of Horticulture, is limited to 20 guests. Guests are transported from the Doubletree Hotel to Biltmore Estate and back for an exclusive view of the estate’s Approach Road, Walled Garden and a viewing of the original 1895 landscape plans designed by Frederick Law Olmstead.

The first step of the tour begins on the bus, traveling up the Approach Road with Andes sharing an insider’s perspective on the history and current maintenance of this famous arrival experience. The group will then disembark to review the original 1895 landscape plans done by Frederick Law Olmsted.

The final phase of the tour is a walk in the walled gardens with Andes discussing how the intended design continues in the present day. The intimate sized group ensures everyone can ask questions and fully participate. The two-hour tour includes restroom breaks, followed by a delicious buffet lunch at Deerpark Restaurant and shopping time at A Gardener’s Place, Biltmore’s quaint garden shop. There will be availability to stay on the premises and enjoy the estate, house included, until 4 pm.

Pickup and drop off is at the Doubletree Hotel. Guests meet at the front of Doubletree at 9 a.m. and return at 1:45 p.m. (We will coordinate with individuals wishing to stay until 4pm) Participants must be physically able to walk 1.5 hours on easy terrain. Wear walking shoes and come prepared for a beautiful rain-or-shine, personalized experience of these extravagant, historic gardens!
